Veer Teja ji

Kharnal (Mundawa, Nagour) is the birth place of Lok Devta Veer Tejaji in the year 1073 A.D. (i.e. Magh Sudi Choudas Sanwat 1130). It is situated on the Nagaur-Jodhpur National Highway near about 15 kms from Nagaur. It is believed that Kharnal was established by Dhawal Khichi who was in the 5th generation of the Choudhan ruler Gundal Rao Khichi of Jayal state. It is believed that Veer Tejaji was the son of Dhawal Khichi.

According to famous story, once Tejaji was heading to visit his father in-law when he saw two cobras being burnt in a fire. He managed to save one, but the other died in the flames. The saved male cobra insisted he would have to bite Tejaji for saving only one of us. Tejaji promised to return. He continued to marry his father in-law's daughter Sundar, before returning to the cobra. On the way, he found an old lady whose cows had been stolen. He ran after the robbers and fought them. He then returned the cows. Still, he returned to the cobra, who bit him on his tongue, and Tejaji died. Since Tejaji was worshiped for being a brave and noble warrior hero. The Nag Devata (Cobra) gave vow to Tejaji that onwards a person whom any snake bite will have no effect of poison if he ties a thread of your name.

Sacrifice day of Veer Tejaji was in the year 1103 A.D. (i.e. Bhadwa Sudi Dasvin Sanwat 1160)
